Efficient Project Work During an ERP Upgrade
MYTOYS GROUP is Europe’s No. 1 online retailer for family shopping. The award-winning brand family incorporates the brands myToys, ambellis, mirapodo and limango. Together they made a total turnover of more than 500 million Euros in 2015/2016, placing the MYTOYS GROUP among the most successful e-commerce companies in Germany. Since 1999, the Berlin-based company group under the brand name myToys has been the No. 1 online shop for toys and products for children in Germany. They also run 14 retail stores across Germany under the same name. Hence, the MYTOYS GROUP is one of the leading omni-channel providers for children’s products in the German-speaking market. Currently, the MYTOYS GROUP employs more than 1,500 staff members and takes the 3rd* place in terms of Germany’s largest employers in the digital industry.
Ever since the company was founded, myToys has been using the Oracle E-Business Suite. In August 2015, myToys decided to upgrade the Oracle E-Business Suite from version 11.5.10 to R12.2.5. The objective was to make the ERP system used throughout the MYTOYS GROUP flexible and cost-effective for the future by means of the update. After being among PROMATIS’ clients for several years, myToys once more wanted to have a competent and reliable partner by their side to support the myToys IT staff with their deep understanding for processes and technologies in such a challenging project. François Canonne, project manager at myToys says: “PROMATIS definitely took on a key role in the implementation of the project. The PROMATIS staff acted independently and self-dependent side by side with the myToys IT staff. They integrated themselves seamlessly into the agile myToys project organization.” Before the project was kicked off, PROMATIS conducted a feasibility study to elaborate the procedures and to plan the entire technical infrastructure. Based upon this, PROMATIS prepared the source system to make the upgrade possible. Then, the specialists at PROMATIS provided a R12 clone as a basis for the necessary developments, carried out the prepared procedures several times and also took care of the initial operation.
During the project, PROMATIS had their significant share in planning and optimizing the necessary downtimes. PROMATIS was in charge of the technical implementation of the upgrade, preparing and coordinating a necessary cut over plan and its implementation, and the subsequent transfer of the technical infrastructure into normal operation while taking into account a fair number of technological improvements in line with the upgrade.
